Kitchen Ventilation

A kitchen fan in a modular home has two purposes: remove cooking odors and provide makeup air for the entire home. Kitchen fans need to be properly sized to provide up to fifteen air changes and hour in the cooking area. Most modular home companies install undersized kitchen fans.

Unvented Kitchen Fans

If your modular home's kitchen floor plan precludes you from having a vented kitchen hood, you should consider installing a bath fan in your kitchen to expel the odors from your garlic sauteed shrimp dinner.

Oversized Kitchen Ventilation

The rage today is to install stainless steel industrial cooking hoods in homes. These oversized fan units will suck your doors closes and act as a whole house fan. If you have a fireplace and an industrial kitchen fan in your modular home, you could have a major safety problem.
