Hardwood Flooring

Modular home factories offer a wide variety of pre finished wood floors. Your choices will include: maple; oak; hickory and other popular species. Often it is wise to omit flooring from your modular home invoice and purchase and install hardwood on site. Small areas such as hallways and foyers cost less to be installed in the modular home factory.

Carpeting

Carpeting for modular homes can be installed at the factory or on site. Recently more and more factories are electing to have an on site carpet installation crew install carpet. Carpeting should be one of the last finishes installed in a modular home. Installing carpet before all sub contractors are finished working on the home leads to the risk of the carpeting being damaged or soiled. The standard carpet for modular homes is a 36 ounce FHA approved carpet with a six pound rebond pad.

Ceramic Flooring

Some modular home factories install ceramic tile in the factory and other factories recommend you have ceramic tile installed after the modular home has been set and delivered. Ceramic tile is a forever flooring which requires a minimum of 1.25 inch subfloor. If you decide to have ceramic tile installed in your modular home, be sure to let the factory know. The additional height of the sub floor will affect stairs and thresholds between rooms. Ceramic tile can add to a homes beauty and increase the value of your modular home.
