Design Basics
Living Spaces
Most of your time awake in your home will be spent in the living spaces of your home. During the design stage it very important to identify your current needs and future needs for your home's floor plan.
The stage of life you are in determines the size and design of your new home.
First Time Home Buyers and Builders
Young first time home buyers will be looking for a home which the family can grow into the home. Often young families will design modular homes so future space can be finished in the attic or the basement. During the initial design process you should consider if you will be finishing off spaces in the future. If this is the case, you can save money by preparing your modular home for future additions. One of the biggest complaints I know about prefabs is how difficult they are to deconstruct to prepare for a home addition.
Baby Boomers and Aging in Place
Aging baby boomers needs are much different than a growing family. They are more interest:ed in right sizing their home to accomodate their life style. Life style issues are driving the housing market to accomodate the millions of retrieving baby boomers. Some of the traditional space in homes are still required by boomer however their are new type of spaces to consider.
